PSN Board

PSN’s Board is made up of  committed and experienced individuals who combine international development, biodiversity, economics, management, marketing, medical, environmental, demographic and other skills and competencies, from a range of governmental, non-governmental, business and academic backgrounds, and who bring additional networks and contacts into the sphere of PSN operations and add to its potential reach.

The Board is responsible for overall policy and strategy, in conjunction with Network members and drawing on the expertise of PSN’s Advisory Group.

Toby Aykroyd, MA, MBA
Vice Chair

Toby Aykroyd PSN

Toby studied macroeconomics, geography and development economics at Cambridge University and has a Master of Business Administration from Cranfield Institute of Technology.

Following an initial posting to the UN Development Programme, working on agricultural projects, his career has mainly involved commercial business management, under contract to government and in the private sector.

Toby has directed a political lobby group and co-founded the Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative. He is a trustee of the Margaret Pyke Trust, the Nomadic Communities Trust and the BBC Wildlife Fund.

Dr. Susannah Mayhew, PhD
London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

Susannah Mayhew

Susannah is a senior lecturer in reproductive health and policy at the University of London, Nuffield Institute of Health; University of Leeds and frequent guest lecturer at European universities. 

Susannah lived in West Africa for a number of years and has conducted research in a variety of countries across sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia including Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Bangladesh and Pakistan. She has conducted research at policy, programme and community levels focusing on the integration of sexual and reproductive health (including maternal health) into health systems policy. 

Ruth McNeil

Ruth McNeil

 Ruth has a career in marketing and international market research building on an early start in public relations for the Family Planning Association. She is a Fellow of the Market Research Society and a frequent speaker on research and evaluation.

For many years she also undertook research for BiTC on corporate attitudes to social responsibility and changing public awareness of corporate social responsibility and public accountability.

Ruth is now Vice Chair of the trustees of Practical Action (which used to be called ITDG, the Intermediate Technology Group). 

Chelsea Morroni
Consultant

Chelsea Morroni

 Chelsea was until early 2010 a senior lecturer in the Women's Health Research Unit in the School of Public Health at the University of Cape Town. She has recently relocated to London, where she is doing independent consulting work and teaching and part-time clinical work, while looking after her child.

Chelsea lived in urban and rural South Africa for 14 years. She has conducted community-based and health services research, focusing on availability and uptake of contraception, and done advocacy work in reproductive health in several countries across sub-Saharan Africa. She is a member of the training faculty of Global Doctors for Reproductive Health and Choice.

Chelsea has a BA in social anthropology from Harvard University, an MPH and medical degree from the University of Cape Town, a PhD in epidemiology from Columbia University and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Patrick Salaün
Business Consultant

Patrick Salaun

Patrick's background is in financial, marketing, business development and fundraising activities with senior management roles in a major clearing bank and in two national charities over a period of 42 years. Now retired from full time work Patrick does some consultancy work.

Patrick is married to a retired nursing lecturer with two adult daughters and two grandchildren. Leisure interests include tennis, walking, allotment keeping and travel.
