- To highlight the negative impact of population increase on economic development, poverty alleviation and the natural environment.

- To support others in the campaign for the provision of adequate reproductive healthcare facilities for the
120-200 million couples who would use them, but are currently denied rights of access because of non-availability
of family planning or other reasons.

- To ensure better opportunity for investment in healthcare and education, especially in
the context of women's rights and the need for more effective programmes against HIV/AIDS.

- To promote better understanding of the problems caused by unsustainable consumption (particularly in the rich minority world) - including pollution, pressure on finite resources, on biodiversity and on climate change.

- To promote greater awareness of the importance of
population planning, among policy makers, media and the
general public.

- Work to remove barriers that inhibit discussion and
action on population matters.
